Two girls aged 7 and 10 drowned Monday in a pond near Maramonovca village of Drochia district, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service. According to the Service's spokeswoman Dorina Cruc, the two girls were neighbors. All day long they hoed in the fields together with the brother and grandmother of the younger girl. Towards the evening, the girls asked for the woman's permission to go and swim in a pond situated nearby. The boy aged 10 was the last who saw the girls alive. The body of one of the girls was taken out in about two hours. The second girl was found in the morning. Thirty persons, 12 of whom children, have drowned in Moldova's lakes and ponds since the start of this year.
