Two families from Chisinau were evacuated as a result of a vegetation fire on Lermontov St. The flames covered a considerable area and endangered the homes located nearby, IPN reports.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, five teams of firefighters struggled for about two hours to contain the blaze. The houses situated in the vicinity, including of the evacuated families, weren’t affected.

A number of 80 vegetation fires occurred in Moldova on September 5 and last night, 13 of which in the municipality of Chisinau. Other fires happened in Cahul, Anenii Noi, Telenesti, Hancesti, Straseni, Causeni, Balti municipality and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.

Firefighters recommend maximum prudence and warn against randomly throwing sources of fire so as to prevent such situations. The service 901 must be called in emergencies.
