"The stories of the four seasons", a book written by Alexandru Plăcinta, and "Mimu, the kitten who fed on stories", author Petre Crăciun, are the two literary works for children launched today during an event that took place at the National Library of Moldova.
""The Stories of the Four Seasons", which I also illustrated, was written for the sake of the children, and also for the sake of their love of books. I am impressed by how children see the world and I try to see it through their eyes too, "Alexandru Plăcinta told IPN.
The author has mentioned that the released book has several different stories about the four seasons, seen through the eyes of children.
Petre Crăciun, author who came from Bucharest for the launching of his book "Mimu, the kitten who fed on stories", is a member of the Writers' Union of Romania (USR) and a winner of the USR children book prize. "It is my number 25 book for children. All the books I had written in recent years I launched here, in Chisinau”, declared Petre Crăciun for IPN.
The author has stated that the book launched on October 6 is for 4-6 year-old children and is a book about friendship, about candour. "The main character that embodies innocence is the kitten of a famous storyteller, who begins to feed on his stories. Being at the age of innocence and hearing that his stories are good, the kitten starts to feed on them, making terminological confusion, as children do," said Petre Crăciun.
Attending the event, Arcadie Suceveanu, chair of the Writers' Union of the Republic of Moldova, has told IPN that the two books are akin. "Both are contemporary tale books, inspired by the life and universe of today's children. The books express the concerns of an evolved child, of a 21st century child," stated Arcadie Suceveanu.
Elena Pintilei, general director of the National Library, the host of the event, has stressed that the two writers are a blessing for the children. "The year 2020 will be declared the Year of Reading. We are waiting for all of you at the library to inculcate the art of reading in the young generation,” asserted Elena Pintilei.
