Two customs posts to be equipped with ultra-modern scanners with China’s support

The Chinese Government approved the allocation of US$ 5.7 million in non-reimbursable assistance for installing two ultra-modern scanners at the customs post Chisinau International Airport and at the Ocnita railway customs post No. 1. The announcement was made by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Moldova E.S. Zhang Yinghong in a meeting with the director general of the Customs Service Vitalie Vrabie, IPN reports.

According to the Customs Service, the first scanner will be set up at the Chisinau International Airport by this yearend, while the second will reach the Ocnita railway customs post No. 1 in the first half of next year. “This way, the Republic of Moldova will be the first country of the region that will have such equipment,” it is said in the Service’s press release.

The first stationary scanner was donated by the Government of China in 2015, within another project, and was installed at the Leuseni customs post.
