Two cows killed in barn fire
A barn fire early morning today in a Floresti household killed two cows.
Liliana Puscasu of the Fire & Rescue Dept. has told Info-Prim Neo that the fire erupted at around 3:30 from a cause which hasn't been established yet. The barn was totally engulfed when the firefighters arrived and the cows could not be saved. The crew managed to prevent the fire from extending to the home.
At approximately the same time, a fire broke out in the bedroom of a house in Berlinit village, Briceni district. Firefighters think a short circuit was the cause.
A defective electrical appliance is to blame for a summer kitchen fire in an Orhei household.
The month of May alone has seen 86 fires which claimed 4 lives. From the beginning of the year, there were recorded 801 fires which killed 96 persons. 116 people, including a child, were saved from flames.
Liliana Puscasu also informed that on Friday the residents of Hancesti town will be awakened by a siren which will announce the start of a disaster relief simulation operation, including simulated response to a bird flu outbreak, a destructive earthquake and a major fire. The simulations will involve emergency crews, doctors, electricians, water and gas work crews, carabineers, police, etc.
