Two companies to take part in final stage of contest to build airport parking
Two contractors – an Italian consortium and a Romanian company – went through to the final stage of the public-private partnership contest to build a parking garage at the Chisinau International Airport, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Tudor Copaci, director general of the Economy Ministry’s Public Property Agency, said that these are serious companies with annual turnovers of over €15 million and experience in constructing such facilities. On March 23, there will be published the official communiqué on the launch of the second, final stage of the contest. During 60 days, there will be accepted bids, including the financial offer. They will be examined and the winner will be announced afterward.
The Public Property Agency launched officially this contest on November 25, 2011. Within the project, there will be built a parking garage with a minimum capacity of 700 places and an area of 7 500 square meters. The investments are estimated at €4-5 million.
The private investor will ensure the designing, construction and running of the garage and will be able to develop its infrastructure and to additionally build restaurants and other commercial facilities on that territory. In 20 years, the investor will transfer the garage to the Public Property Agency. During the concession period, the private partner will pay a tax of at least 2%. It may be reinvested by the state in the development and modernization of the airport.
The parking garage will be put in commission at the end of 2013.
