A column of cars of the protesters who gathered in the Great National Assembly Square on January 14 set out to the State Residence in Condrita, while another column went on a march to the State Residence situated on Iorga St in Chisinau. The protesters said that by these demonstrations, they want to show their support for President Nicolae Timofti, IPN reports.
The people chanted “Timofti and the people!”, “We support you!”, and “We have President!”. The events were organized by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”.
The column of vehicles set off from Mitropolit Banulescu-Bodoni St. “We will stage a march up to the State Residence on Nicolae Iorga St so that the President sees that he enjoys our support,” said Platform member Inga Grigoriu.
The people mounted protests in the central square of Chisinau for two consecutive days. They protested against the nomination of Vlad Plahotniuc as a candidate for premiership. The events are aimed at supporting President Nicolae Timofti, who on January 13 rejected the candidature of Vlad Plahotniuc for premiership. Today the head of state is to take a decision following the repeated fielding by the PDM of the same candidate.
