A child aged several months died in a traffic accident in Chisinau on the night of May 27. Another child of almost a year died in the hospital after being hurt in a car accident in Sangerei district. In the last accident, the girl’s mother also died, while a four-year-old child suffered injuries and is now under intensive care. In both of the cases, the cars were driven by the fathers of the children who died and these were inebriated.
According to the National Police Inspectorate, the accident in Sangerei district occurred between Romanovca and Pepeni Noi villages on May 25. The car was driven by a person who was heavily inebriated and didn’t have a driver’s license. This lost control of the car, which skidded off the road covered with gravel and ran into a roadside tree. The man was driving at a speed of 90 km/h.
Consequently, his wife aged 19 died on the spot, while the child of almost a year died in the intensive care section of the Sangerei District Hospital. The third passenger, a boy aged four who is related to the woman, was rushed to the Mother and Child Institute in Chisinau. Contacted by IPN, the Institute’s press officer Natalia Lesnic said the boy was admitted to the intensive care section. His state is serious, but stable.
The driver suffered a leg fracture and was admitted to the Sangerei District Hospital. He is to be prosecuted.
The accident in Chisinau happened on Albisoara St. The car was driven by a man aged 25. His pregnant wife aged 22 was on the front seat with the small boy on her lap. The young woman is from Cosnita village of Dubasari district.
The driver lost control of the car and crashed this into a billboard. The driver and his wife didn’t have the seatbelts fastened. The child aged several months who was in the woman’s lap died in the hospital. The two adults suffered traumas. They have three more children.
