An explosion occurred in a six-story apartment building situated on Independenței St in Chisinau in the evening of February 22, IPN reports.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, teams of rescuers were dispatched to the scene. The blast that happened in a common kitchen damaged the doors and windows of apartments from the first to fifth floors. The main walls weren’t affected.



The rescuers examined all the apartments so as to find persons trapped under the debris. According to the preliminary reports, two minors aged one and ten and a woman suffered injuries.

The children were admitted to the Municipal Children’s Hospital “Valentin Ignatenco” in a satisfactory state. All the responsible services are working at the scene.
