Two police officers and an Emergency Medical Services worker from Ceadîr-Lunga were arrested after allegedly asking for a €350 bribe from a motorist in return for letting him go unpunished after a supposed DUI offense.

The bribe was handed over in a sting operation conducted by the National Anticorruption Center. On Monday, the local anticorruption unit carried searches at the suspects’ homes, which revealed two illegally possessed guns in addition to the marked bills.

The General Police Inspectorate issued a statement condemning such illegal behavior among its agents, promising to pursue disciplinary action in addition to the criminal charges brough by prosecutors.
