Two candidates compete for Supreme Court of Justice presidency

Two candidates applied for the post of president of the Supreme Court of Justice. These are the Court’s acting president Ion Muruianu and Moldova’s judge at the European Court of Human Rights Mihai Poalelungi. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, chairman of the Supreme Council of Magistrates Nicolae Timofti said applications could be submitted by October 17. The Council is to examine the two candidates to see if they are compatible with the vacant post. The date of the contest will be set later. Ion Muruianu’s term in office expired in March. The legislative body discharged him from post in April, but the Supreme Court of Justice reinstated him recently.
