Two cabs collide in intersection in battle for priority
Two taxicabs hit each other violently in an intersection in Chisinau in a battle for priority, leaving two passengers wounded.
Ion Roscovanu, Road Safety Inspector of the Chisinau Traffic Police told Info-Prim Neo that the accident occurred on Sunday morning, at about 4 AM at the intersection of the streets Vasile Alecsandri and 31 August.
A Daewoo-Nexia vehicle, taxi 1445, driven by a 27-year-old man, collided violently with an Opel-Omega car, taxi 1448, driven by a young man of 26, the cited source said. As a result of the impact, two passengers travelling in the Opel vehicle, both aged 25, were injured. One of them suffered brain concussion, the second – soft tissue injury of the pelvis.
The same day, an Opel-Corsa vehicle, driven by a 25-year-old woman, ran into a Fiat-Tipo car, driven by a man, aged 37. The collision occurred on Hristo Botev Street, at about 4 PM. The young woman was admitted to hospital with head trauma and brain concussion.
Also on Sunday, a young man tried to commit suicide, making sure to have witnesses at that moment. Doctor-coordinator of the Emergency Service, Anatol Proca, says the young man, aged 21, in a condition of hysteria, put the rope on a tree located on Hristo-Botev Street, with the intention of hanging himself. He was freed from the rope chain by his friends, who were near him, and called the Emergency Service. The young man was admitted to the Emergency Hospital.
On Sunday, Emergency Service doctors registered 802 calls, responding to 172 cases of acute respiratory diseases, 8 brain concussions and 36 cases of mumps. On Monday morning alone, emergency service doctors recorded 6 cases of mumps.
