Two brothers face five years in jail for organizing illegal migration to EU

Officers for the Center for Combating Trafficking in Persons identified an international group that organized illegal migration from Moldova to the EU. The group was headed by two brothers from Moldova. It included also Russians, Belorussians and Lithuanians, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of the Interior. Two officers of the Center working under cover monitored the group during two months. The first infiltrated agent was to migrate to Italy. He managed to cross the border of Russia, where he was issued with a transit visa for Lithuania. From Lithuania, he was transported to Belarus, from where he sent his passport to the heads of the group in Chisinau. His visa valid for 90 days was modified. After he got his passport, he went back to Lithuania with a multiple entry visa and then flied to Italy. The two brothers aged 37 and 38 were arrested in Chisinau while they were taking 3,700 euros from the second infiltrated officer, who acted as intermediary. They face fines of 10,000 to 16,000 lei or three to five years' imprisonment.
