A man and a woman were arrested for 30 days on charges of procuring and trafficking in children. These recruited girls aged between 16 and 24 through social networking sites and convinced them to become involved in erotic video chat, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, the suspects are from Chisinau and are aged 22 and 30. They rented a number of apartments in Chisinau, which they equipped with web cameras and computers for providing virtual sexual services for money.

A number of 13 girls recruited by the two have been identified so far. Four of these are younger than 18. For the erotic video chat services, the virtual clients transferred money to the accounts of the procurers. Later the money was withdrawn from ATMs and banks in Moldova.

The suspects face 15 to 20 years in jail for procuring and trafficking in children.
