A Moldovan woman and a Turkish citizen allegedly offered €700 to a border guard to persuade him to facilitate their illegal crossing. It happened at the Chisinau Airport, where the two were arrested for active corruption, IPN reports.

The incident was reported by Border Police employee and the case was documented under the coordination of the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office.

The two suspects - a 44-year-old citizen of Turkey and a 58-year-old woman from the Republic of Moldova - were arrested and the authorities are to establish all the circumstances and possible links with other persons involved in the illegal migration attempt.

The authorities announced that they will continue the investigations to determine the extent of the case and any organized networks involved in such activities.

In this connection, the Border Police remind that bribery is a crime and that any attempted bribery will be penalized in accordance with the law.
