Twinning project to be implemented in penitentiary system
The Moldovan Government allocated from its reserve fund 500,000 lei to contribute to the implementation of a twinning project to reform the penitentiary system by creating alternatives to detention and strengthening interaction between the judiciary and the penitentiary system, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Justice Minister Alexandru Tanase, the project is funded by the European Union and is of major importance for the Republic of Moldova from the perspective of European integration and implementation of European standards in the criminal justice system.
Twinning projects involve reciprocal obligations from the donors and the beneficiary countries. The 500,000 lei contribution from the Moldovan Government to this project will be used to organize 34 seminars for the penitentiary system personnel, probation counselors, judges and prosecutors.
