Twenty-two candidates have submitted their applications for the post of director of the National Anti-corruption Agency (CNA), which as of October 1 will be the new name of the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption. Among the candidates are the incumbent Viorel Chetraru, his deputy Gheorghe Russu and other CCCEC officers, Info-Prim Neo reports. The written test and the interviews will take place on the same day, on September 20 or 21. The Parliament's Legal Commission will have to present the selected candidate to the legislature by October 1. Citizens of Moldova that have studied law and have worked in the area for at least 10 years are eligible to apply. Members of parties, previously convicted persons and those unable to physically perform in their line of duty are ineligible. The 22 candidates are: Veaceslav Gutan, senior lecturer at the Stefan cel Mare Police Academy; Octavian Bejan, employee of the Criminal Science and Criminology Institute; Constantin Lazari, head-lawyer of Transparency International-Moldova; lawyer Lidia Arsenii; CCCEC deputy head Gheorghe Russu; lawyer Valeri Astafiev; lawyer Eugen Gutan; Dan Marian, head of the reorganization and corporate development department at Rompetrol Bucharest; lawyer Anatolie Bazgu; Sergiu Armasu, former head of the Traffic Police Department; Grigore Ciocanu, head of the Civil Council monitoring department; lawyer Ciprian Valah; lawyer Igor Popa; prosecutor Gheorghe Ciobanu; Evghenii Dimitriev, senior consultant for the Supreme Security Council of the President's Office; former investigator and prosecutor Anatol Donciu; CCCEC head Viorel Chetraru; Valeriu Muntean, university lecturer; lawyer Constantin Branza; lawyer Ilie Rotaru; Vitalie Verebceanu, Secretary of the CCCEC's Monitoring Group for Implementing the National Strategy; and Tudor Gabura, head of the CCCEC's Anti-corruption Department.
