Twelfth international festival “Chronograph” opens May 12

The international documentary film festival “Chronograph” starts in Chisinau on May 12. The program includes over 70 films, 11 of which will be premiered or will have special screenings. The opening gala will take place at the cultural center “Odeon” at 7pm, IPN reports.

The screenings in five competition sections will last from morning until evening. The audience will be able to choose the winners of the Public Sympathy award and to discuss with the attending filmmakers.

A novelty is the fact that the films will be shown in the open air, in the square of the Moldova Free International University and at the Open Apartment, starting at 9pm. Entrance is free of charge. There will also be night showings. Several historical films will be screened within the Night of Museums at the National Museum of History of Moldova on May 16.

The festival has been staged annually in Chisinau, starting with 2001. The event appeared on the initiative of a group of young Moldovan filmmakers working at OWH Studio, who aimed to animate the cultural life in Moldova and to bring the latest documentaries from all over the world closer to the Moldovan public.

The festival closes on May 18.
