TV8 television station was nominated by the Press Council winner of the contest for the National Award for Journalistic Ethics and Professional Deontology, 2019 edition. The award has been granted at the Mass-Media Forum, which is held on November 4 - 5 in Chisinau, IPN reports.
According to a statement of the Press Council, 20 media institutions participated in the contest, and the winner was nominated following a multi-stage voting procedure, in which the public, members of a group of experts set up for this purpose and members of the Press Council had voted.
By cumulative totalling up of the score offered to candidates by the public, on the one hand, and by the experts and members of the Press Council, on the other hand, five finalists had been selected: the portals Moldova.org and Newsmaker.md, Radio Chisinau, RISE Moldova and TV8 TV station.
At a special meeting, the Press Council evaluated the results of the contest and decided to offer the 2019 National Award for Journalistic Ethics and Professional Deontology to TV8 TV station.
National Prize for Journalistic Ethics and Professional Deontology was established by the Press Council of the Republic of Moldova in 2015 and is awarded annually in order to promote the ethical and deontological principles and in recognition of the merits of media institutions in this field. In 2015, the Prize was awarded to the Chisinau Office of Radio Free Europe, in 2016 – to the Anticoruptie.md portal, in 2017 - to Ziarul de Garda weekly, and in 2018 - to the SP newspaper from Bălți.
The award is offered with the support of Soros Foundation Moldova Media Program.
