TV programs that may affect minors will be allowed through conditional access system

All TV programs likely to affect the physical, mental or moral development of minors will only be broadcast through a conditional access system. These include programs that contain scenes of pornography or gratuitous violence. The provisions are contained in a set of amendments to the Code of Audiovisual Media Services approved by Parliament in the first reading on Thursday.

The bill, developed by a group of PAS lawmakers, also requires media service providers to level off sound volumes of commercials and audiovisual programs.

Further, the amendments propose limiting the share regarding the dominant position in the formation of public opinion from 35% to 25%.
