„Tutun CTC” was granted additional privileges

Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev requested to attribute a special status for the „Tutun CTC” aggregate works within the process of producers subsidizing process, due to its importance in the tobacco branch. According to a press release, cited by Info-Prim Neo, the head of the Executive appreciated as unsatisfactory the activity of bodies responsible for the development of the tobacco branch of Republic of Moldova. The prime-minister issued a warning for the ministry of Agriculture and Alimentary Industry, Anatolie Gorodenco, and encouraged him to take urgent, pragmatic and efficient actions in order to reach maximum productivity of the branch, and warned Petru Tarata, director of the „Moldova-Tutun” Agro-industrial Agency. During the meeting dedicated to the issues of the tobacco branch, the Premier requested from decision factors to elaborate, in the shortest possible terms, an efficient mechanism for sustained development of the branch that will increase the area of tobacco plantations, will increase production levels and will support export. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in September 2006 the tobacco industry recorded a 17% production decrease.
