Polling stations in Moldova closed at 9:00 pm, but voting still goes on in overseas constituencies. According to the Central Elections Commission, by 9:30 pm the turnout was 49.14%, with more than 1,448,000 voters showing up, IPN reports.
In these elections, women (53.21%) were more active than men (46.79%). By age, the most active were voters in the group 56-70 years (31.80%), followed by those aged between 41 and 55 (25.66%) and those aged 26-40 (25.62%).
There is no turnout threshold for validating the elections. For the simultaneous referendum to be valid, which will remain non-binding either way, a third of the eligible voters must participate.
