Turkey to give Gagauzia $1.6 M more to build aqueduct

Turkey will offer Moldova's Gagauz autonomy $1.6 million in addition to $5 million already allocated to build the water supply pipeline in Ciadar-Lunga town. The announcement was made by the Turkish ambassador to Moldova, Ahmet Ferit Ulker, at meeting with the Gagauz governor, Mihail Formuzal, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the bashkan's press unit. According to the Gagauz official responsible for industry, Piotr Zlatov, 85 km of aqueduct have already been built supplying over 3,000 users. The additional money will used to build other 20 km of pipes, to revamp 7 underground artesian wells and to repair the asphalt cover of roads. All the works are planed to end by 7 November 2008. Mihail Formuzal says the total Turkish investments in social projects in Gagauzia will amount to $8 million in 2008. “This is an incontestable proof that Turkey treats the Gagauzians as a brother people,” the bashkan said.
