Former foreign minister Tudor Ulyanovski, who ran as an independent candidate in the October 20 presidential election, said that the Republic of Moldova is today more divided than ever. The people do not know who to vote for in the runoff presidential election involving Maia Sandu and Alexandr Stoianoglo because they are tired of being forced to choose the lesser evil, IPN reports.

"I have carefully followed the reactions after the first round of the presidential election. With regret, I have ascertained that the Republic of Moldova is today more divided than ever. Between relatives, friends, spouses, on the street and on social media, there is a wave of hysteria, hatred, harassment, attacks, lies and manipulation, which fuels the conflict between the supporters of the two candidates who will contend in the runoff vote,” stated Tudor Ulyanovski.

He noted that he discussed with representatives of both of the presidential election candidates. "I talked with representatives of both camps, but also with citizens who support me. I received messages from people who confessed to me that they feel abandoned, disoriented, trapped in a great dilemma. They don't know who to vote for in the second round because they are tired of being forced to choose the "lesser evil". Many do not want to go out to vote," said the former candidate.

Tudor Ulyanovski believes that the current state of affairs in the country points to the need for an authentic political alternative. "Everything that is happening clearly shows that Moldova needs a real alternative – a new, pro-European political force, a leader capable of uniting us, not dividing us, who will bring balance and ensure the much-needed normality and stability in Moldova," he stressed.

In the presidential election of October 20, Tudor Ulyanovski won 0.52% of the poll (7,995 votes), ranking last among the 11 candidates.
