Tudor Gheorghe turns 67 today
Romanian singer, composer and actor Tudor Gheorghe turns 67 today. The artist continues his career started in 1966 by singing abroad and in Romania and playing on the stage of the National Theater in Craiova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
During Communism, Tudor Gheorghe fell out with the regime and was banned from singing for a decade. His plays were censored until the Revolution in 1989 and after the premiere of the play “A franc poet” in 1979, his concerts were forbidden. He resumed his career in style after the Revolution in December 1989.
Tudor Gheorghe had numerous concerts in Chisinau. In November 2010, he was awarded the Order of the Republic in Chisinau. Tudor Gheorghe performed his last concert in Chisinau last year, on April 8. This year, on April 9, he visited the street named after him in the Telecentru district of the capital.
Tudor Gheorghe was born on August 1, 1945, in Podari commune, Dolj district. He had a hard youth, as his father was arrested as a political prisoner in Aiud.
