Many candidates in the current election campaign sell illusions to voters about the pensions, salaries, irrigation of fields, handcuffing, said the Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate for President Tudor Deliu. In IPN’s electoral debate “We and the President” who elects who, who represents who?”, the candidate said his electoral program does not necessitate large costs because it centers on the constitutional provisions regarding the President’s powers.
“It seems to me that we go much beyond the constitutional provisions regarding the powers of the President of the Republic of Moldova, which refer to representation, mediation between the political forces of the Republic of Moldova and the two more important duties, related to defense and security and the external relations that can be fulfilled through the agency of the Government,” stated Tudor Deliu.
According to him, some of the candidates say they will fight corruption, but corrupt the voters by making false promises. The PLDM, together with its candidate, centered strictly on the constitutional provisions that do not involve additional costs.
Tudor Deliu noted that poverty, migration and jobs are directly proportional to corruption. When his scourge is rooted out, they could speak about economic development, development of the small business, etc. “I do not promise, dear people, that I will do so that the citizens will return to the Republic of Moldova in a year or two years, if I’m elected President. The process of reunifying the families takes place abroad already”.
In his call to the citizens, Tudor Deliu said he does not sell illusions and wants to fulfill the duties of President in accordance with the Constitution. He urged the people to cast their ballots as everyone’s vote counts and they should vote the “competence, courage and devotion”, which is No. 3 on the ballot.
In another development, Tudor Deliu said the President of the Republic of Moldova should be elected by Parliament, while the dissolution of the current Parliament should be a priority for all the political players. The fight against corruption and injustice should be the top priority of all the candidates.
The electoral debate “We and the President” who elects who, who represents who?” forms part of the series of public debates held by IPN News Agency in the framework of the project “Developing political culture through public debates” that is supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
