The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) considers the Constitutional Court’s decision does not refer to the application filed by the party’s parliamentary group. Liberal-Democratic MP Tudor Deliu said the Court interpreted their request to pronounce on the constitutionality of the procedure for withdrawing the immunity of Vlad Filat in a different way, IPN reports.
“We asked the Court to state if the norms of the Parliament’s Regulations and of the Law on the Status of MP that provide for secret voting are constitutional or not. We referred to the Parliament decision and asked to determine if the procedures for removing the immunity of Filat were violated or not,” stated Deliu.
The MP regrets the fact that the Court examined legal acts to which their application didn’t refer.
The Constitutional Court rejected the application of a group of Liberal-Democratic MPs who challenged the constitutionality of the Parliament’s consent to removing the parliamentary immunity of MP Vlad Filat, ruling that the given decision is constitutional.
