Tudor Casapu reelected as president of Weightlifting Federation

Tudor Casapu was reelected as president of the Moldovan Weightlifting Federation, Info-Prim Neo reports. His opponent Vadim Vacarciuc withdrew his candidacy in favor of Casapu and was elected as first vice president. ”Only those who do nothing do not make mistakes. In 2005-2008, we had won 58 medals at European and world champs, while in 2009-2012 – 118 medals, two of which at the Olympic Games,” said Tudor Casapu. Only Ivan Bratan, the coach of Anatol Ciricu who has won a bronze medal at the London Olympics this year, voted against Casapu. In the conference within which the elections were held, Bratan criticized the activity of the Weightlifting Federation. Gheorghe Gutu was confirmed as the main coach of the national weightlifting team. Tudor Casapu has headed the Moldovan Weightlifting Federation since 2003. This year, the Olympic champion of 1992 applied for the post of president of the National Olympic Committee, but lost to Nicolae Juravschi. At the 2012 Sports Gala that will be staged by the Ministry of Youth and Sport on December 25, weightlifters Anatol Ciricu and Cristina Iovu will be designated the sportspersons of the year in Moldova.
