Trolleybuses were the most popular means of transport in the first 9 months of 2006. According to data of the National Bureau of Statistics, 146.2 mln passengers traveled by trolleybuses, which is an increase of 0.5% compared with the similar period of 2005. At the same time, the number of passengers traveling by bus and minibus increased by 5%, amounting to 81.6 mln persons. The number of persons traveling by trains has increased by 7.8, the total figure amounting to about 3.5 mln persons. The number of persons transported by air constituted 327.3 thousand persons and went up by 19.2% in January-September 2006. The lowest volume of passengers used the river transport. Their number constituted only 75.6 thousand passengers, constituting only 72.8% of last year’s indexes.
