The national broadcaster “Teleradio Moldova” (TRM) invites entries for the National Selection of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. Applications can be filed until January 16, 5pm, either in electronic form to www.eurovision.md or on paper to the Eurovision 2023 Collection Center, IPN reports.
Candidates can apply to contend in accordance with the Regulations. Each contestant can compete with one or two original songs lasting for at most three minutes. The contest is open to singers with Moldovan nationality who turned at least 16 by May 10, 2022. In case of coproduction, citizens of other states can also take part, but in proportion of at most 50% of the total number of singers.
The National Selection consists of three stages. At the first stage, candidates’ files will be examined in a session set for January 17 – January 28, 2023. The next stage, of live auditions, will take place between January 28 and February 5, 2023. The score will be decided by the jury. The National Final will be held during February 25 – March 5, 2023 and will be broadcast live on TV Moldova 1 and on other services of Teleradio Moldova. The assessment method in the final is: 50% jury and 50% TV viewers. The singer/band with the highest score will be Moldova’s entry at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The 67th Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Liverpool, the UK, which will stage the competition instead of Ukraine due to the war. Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra won the previous contest with the song “Stefania”. The two semifinals will be broadcast live on May 9 and 11, while the Grand Final will be held on May 13, 2023.
Moldova has taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2005. Its best result is the third place occupied by SunStroke Project band with the song “Hey Mamma” in 2017.
