Tricolors climb two spots in FIFA ranking

The Moldovan national football team, also known as the Tricolors, climbed two spots to 78th in the updated FIFA world ranking, published on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports. The 78th position and 324 points is so far the greatest achievement in the FIFA ranking for the national team coached by Gabi Balint. In the last month Moldva played two official games, both in the Euro 2012 qualification campaign, losing 0-1 to Holland and defeating 2-0 San Marino. Moldova's Euro 2012 group rivals are ranked as follows: Holland – 2nd, Sweden – 36th, Hungary – 44th, Finland – 86th, and San Marino – 203rd. This month's greatest achievement was Central Africa's 60-spot leap to 112th a victory against Algeria. Spain keep the lead. Brazil (3rd) and Germany (4th) have traded places, while European powerhouses France and Italy find themselves at the bottom of the first 20 – at 18 and 16 respectively. A total of 156 international matches – 80 continental qualifiers and 76 friendly matches – have been taken into account for the October update of the FIFA ranking.
