Tricolor ribbons in support of Romanian

The initiative student group “Awakening” distributed tricolor - red, yellow and blue - ribbons in support of the Romanian language in Chisinau's central garden on Monday. The young people say they will share such ribbons on the 13th day of every month during a year, because Article 13 of the Constitution of Moldova says Moldovan is the official language, Info-Prim Neo reports. During 15 minutes, the organizers of the drive distributed 50 meters of ribbon. They said that on October 13 they will share tricolor ribbons in other districts of Chisinau, not only in the public garden “Stefan the Great” Anatol Ursu, one of the members of the initiative group, said this campaign to promote the Romanian language was launched on August 31, when it is celebrated the Language Day. “Some persons look surprised when we give them this ribbon. Others, who speak Russian, ask us to speak Moldovan as they cannot understand. There are people who praise us for what we do,” said Anatol Ursu. Passerby Natalia Stoica approved of the young people's initiative. “The Moldovan language does not exist. It is the Romanian language that we all must speak,” she said.
