A number of 95 communities of 12 districts were partially disconnected from the power supply following the heavy rain and high winds of October 12. Most of these settlements form part of Cantemir district, where 24 villages and towns remained partially in the darkness. The wind downed trees all over the country. Two roads were blocked in the southern districts. In Cahul, two vehicles were damaged, IPN reports, quoting the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service.
Near Comrat town and on the Ceadar-Lunga – Tomai road, teams of rescuers intervened to unblock road traffic, removing the trees that fell down on the roadway.
Intervention teams also travelled to the primary school “A. Donici” of Cahul, where the waves of water flooded the institution’s yard.
In Ceadar-Lunga town, a part of the roof of an apartment building was blown away.
The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service calls on the people to seek help from rescuers on 901 in case of emergencies and to follow authorities’ recommendations.
