More than 10,000 trees will be planted in the capital city on March 30 within an event that forms part of the spring cleanup campaign. The municipal authorities call on the citizens to take an active part in the greening event so as to have a greener city and cleaner air, IPN reports.

The General Public Amenities Division of Chisinau prepared over 3,000 trees for the event. According to the Division’s head Ion Burdiumov, these trees will be planted in Ciocana district, at the intersection of the streets N. Milescu Spătarul and Professor Ion Dumeniuc. The participants will be provided with saplings, spades, buckets and water. The planting event is set to start at 10am.

The authorities will be supported by a number of environmental nongovernmental organizations that will supply saplings. Young trees will also be planted at 205 Uzinelor St, near the Municipal Animal Sterilization Center. Planting activities will also be organized in the yards of education institutions.

The event entitled “Planting good deeds in Chisinau” is the second of the four events planned to be held as part of the general spring cleanup campaign of March 4 – April 26 with the involvement of the community. On April 13, there will be staged the general park cleanup event, while on April 20 – the general cleanup in yards of apartment buildings.
