Trees of various species will be planted Saturday at the parks Alunelul and Valea Trandafirilor in Chisinau. The event will bring together volunteers who paid for the trees as part of the campaign “Give Chisinau a new tree!”.
Dmitri Polscin, one of the organizers, told IPN the tree planting effort is part of the environmental non-profit project Verde.md, which was started after a heavy snowfall hit the capital city in April 2017 and which downed thousands of trees.
The organizers, together with volunteers, will plant trees of different species such as maples, birches, limes and pines. The places where the seedlings are to be planted have been coordinated with the representatives of the subdivisions and the administration of the parks. Similar planting efforts will take place in the near future in other locations too.
The tree planting event at Valea Trandafirilor Park is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. and at Alunelul Park at 1:00 p.m.
