Travel warnings for Bulgaria and Austria
The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs is advising Moldovan citizens to avoid traveling to Bulgaria and Austria due to hazardous road conditions caused by snowstorms and abundant snowfall, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Ministry in particular warns that traffic is difficult in the Bulgarian regions Pleven, Lovech and Smolyan. Truck traffic between Bulgaria and Macedonia via Deve Bair checkpoint has been halted due to impassable roads. Also, vehicle traffic was closed at the checkpoints Zlatishki, Tvardishki, Varbishki, Vratnik, Petrohan and Trojan. Passage through other portions is allowed only for the cars equipped with tire chains.
In western Austria, a segment of railway was shut and some resorts remained isolated for several hours. The Austrian authorities warned of avalanche risks is some mountain areas.
The Ministry is advising Moldovan citizens who are currently in these countries and are in difficulty to call the emergency service numbers 112 (for Bulgaria) and 112/144 (for Austria), or contact the Ministry's helpline +373 22 690 990.
