On days when the temperatures are forecast to exceed 30 degrees Celsius, the motor vehicles larger than 20 tonnes cannot travel on public roads where there are prohibitory and weight limit traffic signs, IPN reports.

According to the National Public Security Inspectorate, the travel restrictions do not refer to passenger transport, cars that convey food products, materials for the prevention or liquidation of exceptional situations. The goal of the ban is to prevent the damaging of the asphalt layer of roads.

The drivers who will not comply face a fine of up to 4,500 lei.
