The police are investigating the director of a Chisinau travel agency who is suspected of cheating over 80 persons. According to the Chisinau Police Division, this May the director took over 100,000 lei in advance from the victims, but didn’t give them later the promised vouchers, IPN reports.

During the investigation, it was established that the firm’s administration rented temporarily a number of offices in Chisinau and posed announcements about the tourism offers on the Internet. The supposed director of the agency aged 25 identified clients and signed false contracts and then took by 6,000 lei in advance, as provided in the contract. Afterward, he didn’t answer the phone and disappeared with the money, while the victims who went to the office found an announcement that the company no longer works on the door.

At the suspect’s house, the police found and confiscated the contracts signed with the clients, over 160,000 lei, a stamp maker and stamps of different companies.

The man was put under arrest for 72 hours. The police are looking for accomplices who have been involved in the scheme. The suspect faces seven to ten years in jail.
