Transylvania International Film Festival comes to Chisinau

The fourth edition of the Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF, Cluj-Napoca, Romania) brings to Chisinau actors Iulian Postelnicu, Rodica Lazăr, Alex Călin and film directors Stere Gulea and Tudor Giurgiu, as well as the newest and most appreciated Romanian films recognized internationally. The event will take place during June 28-30 with free entrance, IPN reports.

The TIFF Chisinau 2024 program includes over 30 feature and short films and a special cine-concert with live music. The screenings will be staged in key locations in Chisinau: ArtCor (open-air), Cineplex Loteanu and Cinema Odeon.

According to a press release from the organizers, TIFF Chisinau aims to become an annual reference event, offering access to cutting-edge Romanian films, most of which were presented for the first time at the TIFF edition in Cluj-Napoca, only a few days before. The festival includes workshops and meetings with Romanian filmmakers, thus providing a platform for learning and exchanging experiences for local filmmakers.

The selection includes Freedom (dir. Tudor Giurgiu, 2023), the super award-winning production about the Romanian Revolution, Nasty (dir. Tudor Giurgiu, Cristian Pascariu, Tudor D. Popescu, 2024), the film about the life and career of tennis player Ilie Năstase, which had a special screening at the Cannes Film Festival, the super comedy about parenting Tati Part Time (dir. Letiţia Roșculeț) with Eva Măruță and Alex Bogdan,  and Moromeţii 3 (dir. Stere Gulea), the last part of the beloved trilogy based on the novels by Marin Preda, starring Horațiu Mălăele and Oana Pellea. Other titles in the program are Good Boys Get to Heaven (directed by Radu Potcoavă), The Dream (directed by Cătălin Saizescu) or Rusalka (directed by Claudiu Mitcu), the latest film starring Maia Morgenstern.

Participation in TIFF Chisinau is free of charge. Reservations can be made on the platform www.film.md.

TIFF Chisinau is organized by the Transylvania Film Festival Association (AFFT) in cooperation with local partners such as the YOUBESC team and the COR Creative Industries Association.

Founded in 2002, the Transylvania International Film Festival is the first and largest international film festival in Romania, attracting over 100,000 participants at each edition.
