Transylvania Film Festival extended to Chisinau

The Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) that was initiated in Cluj-Napoca in 2002 is extended to Chisinau. The first edition of the festival in Chisinau will be held at the Odeon Movie Theater on October 6 and 9 and will present a selection of recent Romanian movies alongside some of the most praised productions shown in Cluj this spring. The special invitees of the event – Romanian film directors and actors – will talk to the public and will give cinema lessons, IPN reports.

The Festival’s president Tudor Giurgiu said the Transylvania International Film Festival, which is the biggest cinematographic event in Romania, constantly involved filmmakers from Moldova in different education projects, workshops or debates about film co-productions. It’s now the moment for the festival, which reached maturity, to be tasted also by the public from over the Prut.

TIFF Chisinau aims to become an annual event in Moldova, which will bring the most important recent productions awarded at festival to the public. It also aims to become an important driving force that will support and promote local filmmaking and will shape young generations.

Twenty long and short feature and documentary films will be screened at the first TIFF Chisinau, some of them in the presence of their producers. Most of them will be shown in Moldova for the first time. The complete program will be made public soon.
