The Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure worked out new regulations concerning paid parking lots and auto parking on Moldova’s territory. The notion of “auto parking” that was excluded from the current regulations was restored. This means “specially set up area that is intended for parking vehicles for a particular period of time”. The parking areas will be organized and will function based on regulations approved by the competent bodies of the public administration, IPN reports.

The Ministry said no paid parking system will work without an appropriate penalty system for punishing the vehicle owners who will not comply with the norms set for ensuring correct and equitable access to parking areas. These aspects will be defined in another regulatory document.

According to unofficial reports, in Moldova each third resident has a personal car.
