Transplant Agency to exchange organs with international medical institutions

The Transplant Agency of Moldova will be able to exchange organs with international medical institutions, IPN reports, quoting amendments approved by the Cabinet to a decision on the Agency’s activity.

There will be constituted a National Renal Registry that will analyze the performance of the providers of dialysis services and their quality. Through the agency of the Registry, the patients on dialysis, the persons put on the waiting list for kidney transplant and those who had a transplant will be more efficiently supervised. The software will cost an estimated 740,000 lei. This will be integrated into the automated information system “Transplant”.

The Transplant Agency will be empowered to coordinate and monitor the l assisted human reproduction activities. Banks of tissues and human cells, including STEM and reproductive cells, will be created in Moldova. In concert with the National Public Health Agency, the Transplant Agency will design and maintain a system for controlling the quality and testing all the organ, tissue and human cell donation, conservation, keeping and distribution activities.

The amendments envision the creation of the center for professional formation of medial transplant personnel at the Transplant Agency.

In Moldova, over 100 persons need to have organs transplanted.
