Transnistria's nongovernmental sector in its infancy, experts say

The nongovernmental organizations in the Transnistrian region are still in their infancy, and the reason for that is the numerous problems of the population in this area. This conclusion was presented by experts at the closing phase of Transnistria's NGO Forum, Info-Prim Neo reports. The experts have found that the nongovernmental organizations in the Transnistrian region are aware of the need to develop and seek assistance in this regard. The NGO Forum of Transnistria was organized for the first time by Promo-LEX Association with the support of the OSCE Mission to Moldova. The event was held in two stages (on October 25 in Chisinau and on November 15 in Cosnita, Dubasari). The representatives of the about 100 nongovernmental organizations and civil associations working in the eastern part of the country diagnosed the condition and the situation of the nongovernmental sector in the region. The participants rdiscussed the problems and also the successes in various domains like the youth, human rights, environment and social matters. It was agreed that the biggest weaknesses are related to the failure to ensure the sustainability of the launched initiative and inadequate human resources. The analyses elaborated by the experts will be published in the immediate future by Promo-LEX.
