Transnistria's annual inflation projection more than doubled in 10 months
The inflation rate in the Transnistrian region in October stood at 25 percent, which exceeds more than two times the 12 percent projection fixed for the entire year, Info-Prim Neo's field correspondent reports.
Transnistria's self-styled economy minister Elena Chernenko informed on Wednesday the cabinet of ministers that the economic indicators for 2008 had been projected according to the economic performance registered in Q1-2007. However, the effects of last summer's drought now add some 3 percent each month to inflation, she explained.
Concerning next year's forecasts, Chernenko is cautiously optimistic: “16 percent is the upper limit for next year”.
The lowest inflation rate ever recorded in Transnistria was 8.5 percent in 2006.
