The inhabitants of the Transnistrian region are enraged to voluntarily surrender the possessed firearms and munitions and will be thus exempted from criminal liability. The call was made after the press in Russia reported that a resident of St. Petersburg yielded up arms, grenades and munitions kept since the Nustru armed conflict of 1992, IPN reports, with reference to the local press.

The ministry of the interior of the self-proclaimed Transnistrian administration said the population of the region remained with guns after the conflict of 1992. The arms and munitions continue to be kept in homes and other buildings. If the persons yield these up voluntarily, they are freed from criminal liability. As usual, the arms are found by the new owners of houses as a result of repair works.

During 25 years, there were confiscated 50 submachine guns, 1 188 F-1 grenades, more than 150,000 cartridges and other munitions.
