Transnistrians most often complain of violation of their rights when applying for passports or want to emigrate

Inhabitants from the Transnistrian area say their rights are violated most often when applying for passports, getting residence visas or when they want to travel abroad of emigrate. In the first months of this yea, the human rights protection agency of the Tiraspol authorities has got over 1,500 complaints from the people, Info-Prim Neo’s correspondent has learnt from Oleg Belyakov, the head of the agency. According to him, in medicare, most of the complaints are about breeching the right to free vital medicines. The region’s health ministry says it needs over 2.46 million lei to solve such issues, while the authorities give it but 24,600 lei (in Transnistrian rubles – e.n.) Special attention is granted to the military, Oleg Belyakov says. Recently all the facilities that the military had in terms of medicare, free transportation, treatment were canceled. In another context he says the number of crimes in which minors are involved remains rather thigh. “The main task of the Transnistrian human rights protecting agency is to present the UN a report on the observance of the human rights in this area. Dozens of problems will be mirrored in the first report of this kind,” Oleg Belyakov said. The Transnistrian area marked the International Human Rights Day on December 10 for the first time this year.
