The March 28 elections in the Transnistrian region were declared valid. The turnout of voters in all the 256 electoral districts was higher than 25%. The general turnout was 43.36%, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in Tiraspol reports, quoting the Transnistrian Central Election Commission.
The voters in Camenca were the most active. The turnout there was 54.2%. In Rybnitsa, the turnout was 45.3%, in Dubasari – 43.4%, in Tiraspol – 41.9%, while in Bender (Tighina) – only 34.8%
.
According to the head of the Transnistrian Central Election Commission Petru Denisenko, the results in an electoral district in Rybnitsa have not been recognized as the patronymic of an election runner was written incorrectly in the ballots.
A number of 280 candidates ran for the 323 seats on the local, district and town councils.
The breakaway republic of Transnistrian is not recognized as an independent entity. The Moldovan constitutional authorities lost control over the region after the armed conflict of 1992.
