Transnistrian refugees protest in front of Chisinau City Hall
The Transnistrian Refugee Movement protested Thursday November 9 in front of the Chisinau City Hall. The refugees insist on allotting financial sources to finalize the construction of the block of flats on Ginta Latina street and to begin the construction of the second block on Nicolae Milescu Spataru street.
Head of the Transnistrian Refugee Movement Anatolie Bazgu says that the block on Ginta Latina street was only half built. The City Hall allocated in 2006 only 400,000 lei. Another 2.6 mln lei are necessary for finalizing the building, Bazgu added.
According to Bazgu, the local authorities did not keep their promise according to which the construction works at the second block of apartments will start this autumn.
The capital’s City Hall has another obligation towards the refugees, head of the Transnistrian Refugee Movement claims. According to him, the promise that the list of the internally displaced persons from the eastern raions of the country, who need a home, would be approved in late October was not fulfilled.
According to the Public Relations Division of the City Hall, the interim mayor of the capital Vasile Ursu has discussed with the refugees and promised them to organize a work meeting at the first block of flats for the refugees residing on Ginta Latina street on Friday November 10.
The protest action was not authorized by the City Hall, a reason for which the Transnistrian Refugee Movement brought the municipality’s refusal to the Court of Appeal.
