The National Veterans’ Union of the War on Independence (UNVRI) and the Transnistrian Refugee Movement (MRT) have protested in front of the Russian Embassy on Sunday, September 17, blaming Russia for its support of the Transnistrian referendum and the Tiraspol separatist regime. During a few hours, the representatives of the 2 organizations have protested in front of the Embassy, holding posters intended to change the Russian Federation’s politics towards the Republic of Moldova and the separatist regime. MRT chairman, Anatol Bazgu, informed Info-Prim Neo that this action is against the Russian Federation’s double-sided policy, which neutralized the separatist regime from its own territories, but supports and aids those from the territories of other ex-soviet countries, such as the Republic of Moldova. According to Bazgu, the members of his movement are inhabitants of Transnistria before 1992. They want their rights respected, so that they could visit relatives and friends without paying customs taxes on Nistru River. UNVRI chairman, Eduard Maican, claims Russia plainly, rudely and coarsely violates the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova by organizing a referendum in the regions from the left bank of Nistru River, an action that once more proves the colonial tendencies of this country. UNVRI blame these actions, and require Russia to respect Moldova’s rights as a sovereign country and to condemn the separatist regime.
