The Presidential Office of the Republic of Moldova hasn’t yet received a letter from the Transnistrian leader concerning the resumption of the settlement talks. “At the moment, we do not possess such information. If we have information on the issue, we will provide it,” the Mass Media Division of the President’s Executive Office has told IPN.
On December 2, the official TV channel of the Transnistrian region, “First Transnistrian”, in its Telegram channel said that in the meeting of the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Klaus Neukirch, Vadim Krasnoselski transmitted through the OSCE Mission another letter to President Maia Sandu. In his letter, Vadim Krasnoselsky requested the President to hasten the nomination of an official representative of the Republic of Moldova to the Transnistrian settlement talks. He noted he waits for a response and for the appointment of the chief negotiator of Chisinau.
The 5+2 round of talks set to take place in Stockholm on November 2-3 was put off. The talks have been in stalemate for over two years. The last meeting was held in Bratislava on October 10, 2019, but a final protocol there wasn’t signed owing to the differing opinions of the parties involved in the talks.
